A brief history of Prague Youth Theatre:

In the summer of 2011, British-born, Prague-based actor and drama teacher Adam Stewart took the plunge and started work on realising his dream to launch the city's first English-speaking youth theatre. That September, with a homemade website and press-release in hand he secured a home at Divadlo Kampa and launched the company's first term with approximately 15 students across two age groups.

Having grown up with youth theatre in his blood, Adam's mission was to provide a fun, friendly and peformance-led platform from which children and young-adults would thrive.

By 2013 student numbers had increased so much that a larger venue was required and rehearsals moved to Divadlo Na Pradle which remained PYT's home for seven years.

In September 2015 PYT took over an office space in the Kolowrat Palace in Prague's historic old town and in January 2018 moved to its current home with office and studio spaces at Art Centrum Botic.

In September 2020 with student numbers swelling to over 200, PYT moved its weekend rehearsals to the spacious studios at Centrum Tance Mustek.

Now in 2021 PYT is celebrating its 10th year whilst managing all of the challenges created by the COVID pandemic. Adam and his team are looking forward to getting back to face-to-face classes as soon as possible and to the next ten years of collaboration with the inspiring and talented young people of Prague!
